The effects of exercise on the musculoskeletal system.
The muscular system and skeletal system make up the musculoskeletal system, therefore meaning that the effect of exercise on it will be a combination of the effect exercise has on the skeletal system and the muscular system. When we partake in weight carrying exercises, we exert stress on our body which we would not normally experience everyday.
If we manage and direct the stress exacted on our bodies, we can use this to:
Increase the size of our muscles which will make them stronger, less likely to suffer from fatigue and less likely to reduce in size.
The bones become stronger and less likely to fracture but too much of a good thing is not good because too much exercise can start to erode your cartilages. If our musculoskeletal system systems are subjected to too much stress, or are over used, injury may result. Another effect is addition to body mass, because of the increase to muscles and bones and body in general.
So if exercise is performed with moderation, it can be beneficiary but if misused and care is not taken, can be detrimental.
